Giving Back
Riverside Pediatric Group is dedicated to serving its community. Riverside encourages all of its doctors to particpate in regular health fairs, volunteer to teach and counsel medical students and to contribute to charitable organizations. Dr. Azzam Baker, the founder of Riverside Pediatric Group, embodies this principle, as he is a regular contributor to numerous charitable organizations and volunteers his time and resources to benefit the local communities that he serves.
Dr. Seema Tiku, one of the highly esteemed physicians in our Hoboken office, is a member of Unified For Global Healing (UFGH), a non-profit organization that organizes medical missions across the globe to provide culturally competent medical care and promote the advancement of health education for underserved communities. Riverside Pediatric Group is proud to sponsor and support Dr. Tiku and UFGH on their missions. We are very proud of Dr. Tiku for her hard work and dedication to such a noble organization.
- Haiti Volunteer Work. In July 2010, Dr. Tiku spent two weeks volunteering in Haiti with UFGH. Dr. Tiku was part of a team of 24 doctors, social workers and artists volunteering their services to those devastated by the earthquake in Haiti. They provided clinic and urgent care for patients and social services. Riverside Pediatric Group donated medical supplies and equipment to the mission. Their Haiti mission was written about by the Huffington Post and on Anderson Cooper's blog.
- India Volunteer Work. In December 2009, Dr. Tiku spent two weeks volunteering in India with a team of 17 doctors and other volunteers. She and her team visited under-served rural communities in Gurgaon and set up free health clinics and treated over 1,000 women and children who suffer from malnutrition, long term health problems, disease and high infant mortality. Riverside Pediatric Group donated to the mission.
Association of Haitian Physicians Abroad - Haiti Fundraising. In March 2010, Riverside Pediatric Group and Riverside Medical Group presented to the New Jersey Chapter of the Association of Haitian Physicians Abroad a donation of $6,410 in an effort to assist in their Haiti relief efforts. After hearing of the devastating earthquake in Haiti, our doctors and staff, organized a fundraising campaign at our offices and successfully raised a total of $3,205 from our doctors, staff and patients. We are grateful to everyone who contributed. In addition, Dr. Azzam Baker, the founder of Riverside Pediatric Group and Riverside Medical Group, agreed to match dollar-for-dollar the total amount raised. Therefore, on behalf of the Riverside Pediatric Group and Riverside Medical Group family, we proudly presented to the New Jersey Chapter of the Association of Haitian Physicians Abroad a donation of $6,410.
